ABOUT

In 1941, Rudy Hulsman, company’s founder, attended a Purdue University program on electrical wiring. When REA began its work running lines around the rural areas in the county, he found work in digging post holes by hand. He would be dropped off at a jobsite in the morning and picked up at the end of the day. His holes were counted, and he was paid ten cents per hole. After the electric line to the house was finished, he began to wire houses and Ag buildings. In 1946, he was married to Leona Knies and went into business for himself and it all took off from there.

Rudy and Leona ran the business for several years doing good, honest work and building a base of great customers in a wide variety of services and industries. When it came time, Rudy turned the reigns over to their four sons, Doug, Ron, Earl, and Jeff who had been working with him since the early years of their lives. With a base of great customers and years of knowledge and experience, the four brothers continued the tradition of successfully servicing a large base of customers in several different industries.

In 2004, as a junior in high school, one of Rudy and Leona’s grandsons joined the company in a part time role. He helped Ron on the industrial sector of the business. After deciding that this was the industry he wanted to be in, he became full-time with the company after his high school graduation in 2005. After 13 years of working as an electrician, under some of the most knowledgeable and experienced electricians in the area, Brandon Hulsman purchased the entire company from the family.

In May of 2018, with the newly purchased company, Brandon began to hire new people and try to grow the 75-year-old company. Today, we still operate out of the same shop Rudy and Leona built in 1960 and still service a lot of the same customers that Rudy worked for in the early years. Using new equipment, technology, and processes, we hope to keep staying up with the industry and our customers into the next generation.
